Shark Smile by Big Thief - Originally, this set was kicked off with the following song but while doing my listen throughs, I thought the noise and stuff in the beginning of the song fit nicely as an opening to this set. I have gotten so into Big Thief recently, well, thinking about it maybe it's been more like a year and then some. But anyways, Vampire Empire was a huge listen on repeat song for me and generally I love Big Thief's sound.

Wide-Eyed, Legless by Laura Veirs - Alright, so this set started with me asking some dear friends if they wouldn't suggest some songs to me. My one friend suggested this song first and informed… most of the other songs on here that aren't Spanish or Polish. REALLY dig this song and I need to check out this artist more. Thank you Scylla!

EDGE-GIRL by Sindy - When putting this set together, I went through older playlists of mine like I always do, and I re-fell in love with this one! Really dig the electronic-ness of this one and reminds me why I need to keep relistening to songs I put on playlists.

I Know! by Swapmeet - This is a new to me song that I found while snooping on Laura Veirs artist page. I really like this one and think it fits in it very well to this first half of the setlist. Really enjoy the vocals on this.

Love Is More by Princess Chelsea - I wanted to put a Princess Chelsea on here because for whatever reason Wide-Eyed, Legless for real made me think "Oh, I bet I could find a Princess Chelsea song that would fit". I did not put on my favorite song from this band, but opted for another one I listen to quite often.

Bag of Hammers by Thao & The Get Down Stay Down - This is another band that Wide-Eyed, Legless reminded me of for whatever reason of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. I sort of picked this one at random and was one of the first songs I saw when looking for songs by them. I debated picking a different one but in the end I figred why not keep this song on here. I can always put other Thao & The Get Down Stay Down songs on other sets.

U Want It U Got It by Palehound - I love you Palehound! This is another song that I was inspired to put on due to my friend's suggestion of Wide-Eyed, Legless, so thank you so much for that suggestion! Really dig this song and I honestly hadn't listened to it too much prior to this.

Para Donde Vas by The Iguanas - So I had two other friends who suggested two other songs, both of which are in Spanish. This particular song is a new to me song that I included due to the other two Spanish songs on here. I really like dancing to this song.

King Bruce Lee Karate Mistrz by Franek Kimono - I have liked Franek Kimono since I heard a song from this very album, although not this one. This specifically wound up on here due to a song we'll get to in a second, one of the one's suggested by one of my very good friends. I did sort of consider taking this one off the setlist, though I don't know what I would have replaced it with. But I think it's too funny not to include.

La Bamba by Ritchie Valens - REALLY fun song! This is one of the two Spanish songs that were recommended to me this week and both of them are so good. Glad my one friend graciously suggested this one and this version too! Ah, thank you, my dear Mack.

Comanche by CAKE - This was the first song I put on my setlist when I went about making this week's set. I thought that my two friends suggesting the sort of dancey songs they suggested fit nicely with this CAKE song. Admittedly I've definitely been getting slightly back into CAKE.

Que' Onda Guero by Beck - OH WOW okay so in making this setlist I think I got back into Beck? Especially this album. But this song is so fun and I love it, and the album itself is so GOOD! Ah! Anyways, don't be shocked if you see Beck again.

Oaxaca Love Song 2 by Las Cafeteras - AH! Such a good and fun song. This is one that a friend suggested to me after it saw this band live. It sounds like this band can REALLY put on a show, and that's awesome! I can believe it because this song is so GOOD! I love it, and also encourage folks to check out other songs from the band. I am going to maybe include another song of there's this upcoming week.

Strange Powers by The Magnetic Fields - I really kind of just put this Magnetic Fields song into the setlist for fun. I don't necessarily know if it fits but I think it's a nice transition from everything prior to the last song on this setlist.

Counterfeit Florida Plates by The Mountain Goats - Came very close once again to not including a TMG song but the TMG streak continues! We end on this one from Transcendental Youth, an album I really should listen to more. One of these days I'm getting my playlist podcast off the ground. And you will be able to hear me read these sentences out loud. For now though, I will see you here always. Have a nice week!

Shahdaroba by Roy Orbison - I have been on a bit of an Orb kick (fun way to refer to Roy Orbison that my dear friend taught me) and I decided for whatever reason to base a playlist around this song!

Shangri-La by The Kinks - So Shahdaroba reminded be of this song but when I was looking up this song, I was like "oh it does kinda sound like Shangri-La ELO too huh" because they both popped up- obviously since they have the same name. I thought it would be funny then, to put both this song and the next two songs on, due to their funny connection.

Shangri-La by Electric Light Orchestra - As explained above, I put ELO's song on here because of it's name and it did remind me of a bit of what was going on in the Orb song. Also, generally, a good song.

Give Him A Great Big Kiss by The Shangri-Las - Following in the previous songs footsteps, I just thought it would be funny to include two songs that are called Shangri-La and then also include a song from the band The Shangri-Las. I really dig this one.

Jumpin' at the Woodside by Duke Ellington, Count Basie - I used to be so into like… I suppose it's just called big band music or swing music but like the music of World War 2 basically. I picked this one out because I feel it fits into the line up.

Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin, Joshua Rifkin - If you haven't heard this song or a rag similar, I would be a little shocked. While scrolling for WW2 era ish songs, I stumbled on this one and thought it would be fun to include not one but two songs like this.

Do You Wanna Dance by The Mamas & The Papas - There was once a time when I was listening to a lot of the Mamas & The Papas, and they still are in my listening rotation but a little less so these days. I really dig this song and it's a very sweet one.

Wear Your Love Like Heaven by Donovan - My best friend likes Donovan and I definitely thought of her when I put this song on this setlist. I think this song fits in pretty well and it's very pretty. I should really listen to more Donovan.

The Ugly Bug Ball- From "Summer Magic" by Burl Ives - I really love this song. It was introduced to me by one of my very dear, close friends and I thought it fit into the setlist AND I am counting it sort of as a listener suggestion thing. I like highlighting when I can connect a song to someone. Or sometimes some thing. But in this case, I love you Mack! Thank you for The Ugly Bug Ball!

Uulia by Nive Nielsen & The Deer Children - I LOVE NIVE NIELSEN & THE DEER CHILDREN! Really good song that I figured I'd put on here. Just a really good song.

Head Wave by Linda Ronstadt - Some folks last Wednesday when I was listening to Christos Lawton Boogaloo Radio were talking about Linda Ronstadt so I decided to put Heat Wave on here. I then also connected the next AJJ song to this one, just for fun.

Linda Ronstadt by AJJ - When I put Heat Wave on, I thought to myself "Oh it would be funny to put that one AJJ song about Linda Ronstadt on here after this song" and so I did exactly that. Good song, I heard this song live once.

Commandante by The Mountain Goats - Yeah, so far I have yet to not include a TMG song and for now I guess I will keep saving a space for one TMG song per show.

Death Cab for Cutie by The Bonzo Dog Band - This is a new to me song discovered in the recommended section on evil spotify. I thought it was interesting and because I had the Linda Ronstadt/AJJ song connection, I thought "OH wow I could do that for Death Cab For Cutie".

Bixby Canyon Bridge by Death Cab For Cutie - So like I just said, this is to pair with the previous song. Although I think this one is a bit breaking in terms of the vibe of this playlist, I think it's a good song to end on and not a completely wild choice (I feel I've been doing a good job on doing an eclectic mix each show). This is also one of my more favored Death Cab For Cutie songs. Anyways, thanks for joining me once again if you did! See you next week!

Meet Me In The City by The Babies - This song was one I saw on tumblr from a user I follow, ferylcheryl, and I really dug it! It would be so fun to do a listener segment but for now I can highlight a neat song I found online from someone sharing!

Leaves Fall Again by Shannon & The Clams - So The Babies song informed quite a bit of this playlist. I was reminded of Shannon & The Clams so I decided to put one of the songs I like from them on here this week!

The Ghost With The Most by The Almighty Defenders - I went back and forth about this one a lot. It's a new one to me. I enjoy the song but is it in my listening rotation? I don't mind putting it on the setlist though.

Nothing Remains by Jon Smith's Voyages - Ever since I saw Jon Smith's Voyages live at one of my all time favorite venues, I have been following along on their musical journey. I dig this song and I thought I could easily slot a Jon Smith's Voyages song into the mix.

Candy Clock by Thee Oh Sees, Kelley Stoltz, K. Dylan Edirch - I really dig this song and it's like. I suppose whimsical nature is the word I shall use to describe it. The sound just entrances me.

Thinking About You by Frankie and the Witch Fingers - Another new song to me. And another song I actually went "I'm not sure about this one anymore" when I listened to this setlist today even though I have had this locked in for a bit. I don't think it's bad though and so it stays.

Puppet on a String by Night Beats - A new to me song that I listened to and went "yeah, this is staying!" so there's a lot that.

Gloves for Garbage by Damaged Bug - This is a new to me song as well (went down a bit of a new song journey for this one), and I really dig the instrumentals in this. Just a very interesting sounding one that I hope some will enjoy.

Pseudomasochism by The Cowboys - I can't remember if this is a new to me song or a song I listened to once, loved, and then promptly forgot about for whatever reason. But I'm really digging it now! Another song I like the beat on.

Le Premier Bonheur Du Jour by Os Mutantes - I remembered about radioooo or whatever, that thing that used to be free where you could listen to songs from all over the world. It seems now you have to pay for it but you can still listen to one country (? I can't remember what it is now), but this is one of the songs I found and dug when I was listening to that station for a little bit.

Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground - I thought a Velvet Underground song would be a good addition in this line up. I've also been on a bit of a Velvet Underground resurgence too.

Caravan by Duke Ellington - Jazz has lately been entering into my listening rotation as of late and I thought I'd throw a little jazz into the line up. Really dig this one.

I've Been Riding With The Ghost by Songs: Ohia, Jason Molina - The return of Songs: Ohia, Jason Molina! I had this in my saved songs and I'm not entirely sure what possessed me to put this on the setlist, I don't regret it. Really fun song.

creature - w/ Orchestra by half*alive - My boyfriend shared this song with me and I thought why not throw it on here. I added this one around the same time I added the Songs: Ohia, Jason Molina song.

Clean Slate by The Mountain Goats - I guess for now I will continue to have a slot open for a Mountain Goats song and this is the song I decided to share this week! A nice end! See you all next time!

A Good Day For Dying by The Bug Club - Starting this week's playlist off with a band that is still an earworm for me. I picked a different track that I've been really digging and I suppose let this inform most of the choices on this set. Really I kinda just messed around and had fun.

Stop Living by Getdown Services - I need to actually do the album review I want to do for this new album of Getdown Services. I've been digging them for a bit now and decided it would be nice to spotlight a song from the new album that I dig.

Middleage(d) Humanoid by Viagra Boys - I often get Getdown Services and Viagra Boys mixed up in my mind. I don't help myself because I keep putting them on playlists together. I just think together their sounds are very interesting. This is one of my favorite songs to listen to from Viagra Boys.

Heart Attack by Mike Krol - I originally was going to do a Steven Universe song and put Mike Krol on here because I found Mike Krol through that show. But then listening, I thought maybe it sounded better without the Steven Universe song, and thus I kept Mike Krol's song instead to fill out my 15 song limit.

Your Cover's Blown by Belle and Sebastian - I realized one of my often listened to playlists "morning commute" has to be like. At minimum like 10 or 11 years old now? Which is really, really sickening kinda. It could even be a little older.

Everything's Ruined by Fountains Of Wayne - I'm being silly I feel, putting Fountains Of Wayne into the mix. But I've lowkey been in a Fountains Of Wayne revival era a bit. Like ever since I kinda got back into Guster I've also kinda gotten back into CAKE and Fountains Of Wayne.

Moving by Kate Bush - For a while now I've been back in my Kate Bush era. It's fizzled a little but this album and this song caught my ear again this week.

Doc Gooden by The Mountain Goats - There might come a time when I don't put a TMG song on a setlist or maybe I'll always find a slot to put them in, but today I'm bringing to you Doc Gooden from In Leauge With Dragons, which has been one of my more listened to TMG songs lately.

Carry On Phenomenon by Kishi Bashi - I really dig this song! Randomly revisited it while making this setlist and decided to through it in here.

Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa - A few of these songs like Kishi Bashi and Belle and Sebastian reminded me of Vampire Weekend and this is one of my favorite albums of theirs. I sort of picked at random.

Sim's Jig by Ivaluarjuk - I want to also keep pushing different and new sounds to people. I've recently gotten very into throat singing genre and different folk music. This album from Ivaluarjuk really has hit after hit but when it sounded like I was shoe-horning in other songs, I decided to go with this one. Still, very much one of my favorites.

That Summer Feeling by Jonathan Richman - This one I kinda just again threw on here randomly when I was looking for things to fill out the setlist. Really dig the song.

I Am A Guided Scientist by Guided By Voices - I should look more into Guided By Voice. They keep cropping up as artist I keep putting songs on my playlists from but know nothing about. Like I should give a feel album of theirs a shot.

Bat Song by Charming Disaster - Charming Disaster might slowly creep back into my listening rotation this year. Sometimes around October I can go so fucking hard for them. This song is sweet.

Farewell Transmission by Songs: Ohia, Jason Molina - Not only do I like this song a lot, I thought it would be funny and nice to end the set on a song with the title Farewell Transmission, because I'm saying farewell to all of you who joined me on this auditory journey.

I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton - I had to start with a Dolly Parton tribute due to her passing and the radio show I tune in to weekly didn't do one. I wouldn't say I listened to Dolly Parton but I think no one's immune to this song or 9 To 5. RIP Dolly Parton.

Love Oh Love Oh Love by Labi Siffre - So this song's been in my listening rotation for a bit now.

Sunshine On My Shoulders by John Denver - I have been reflecting on all my loves due to recent events. One of my oldest and dearest friends loves John Denver and a few other picks remind me of others in my life too. Just a lovely song.

Only A Fool Would Say That by Steely Dan - The radio show I tune in to every week played this song! It means a lot to me lately and I thought I'd include it.

Look How Far… by Modest Mouse - So I am still coming off the high of my "concert vacation" where I went to 3 concerts in one week. Which I still need to blog about properly. I technically saw 4 bands in total, one of them being Modest Mouse, and that was INCREDIBLE! This is from their new album which I like quite a lot to be honest.

Midnight Radio by Stephen Trask - A pick that reminds me of my companion. Felt it fit in. It's from Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

My Side by Prewn - A new to me song that I discovered recently and felt it fit in sort of with the vibe of this set.

Poison by feeble little horse - So I found a neocity blog that's just a whole blog about listing out indie pop bands. Which is so cool. Found this one based in Pittsburgh only to discover everyone knows about them already. OH WELL! Really dig their sound.

Woodstock '99 by The Mountain Goats - This is from the new TMG album Days, which I dig a lot. I got lucky enough to see TMG twice during my "concert vacation" and this represents the first time! They didn't play this song but I'd pay Mr. Darnielle on stage like throw him money to play this live. It would be fun I think.

Optimistic Son by Car Seat Headrest - I've been thinking about Car Seat Headrest a lot lately and thought this song would fit into this setlist. Personally, I think it does! What do you think?

Passaic 1975 by The Mountain Goats - Another TMG song? Of course. I'm back in my TMG era, not that I ever left. I think this would be a song that would pair well with Woodstock '99 for obvious reasons. I think John Darnielle could do a whole drug set.

The Good Life by Weezer - This is another song that reminds me of people I love and also kind of how I feel right now. I'm living the good life! Also I've kinda been in a Weezer mood on occasion in the afternoons, thought I haven't checked out their new album and I don't know if I will.

Look Like Me by The Bug Club - NEW BAND ALERT! And I've been really digging them. Decided to throw this one on here since I thought it bopped and fit into this eclectic arrangement.

Hang 'Em High by My Chemical Romance - I'm ending this week's setlist by including two songs from the two big bands I saw during my concert vacation. MCR played this one live on B-Stage when I saw them and god, what a song to hear. It was transcendent. I love this song very much and hearing it live was INCREDIBLE!

No Children by The Mountain Goats - I have included No Children in this week's line up since during my concert vacation, I saw TMG twice and the second time I saw them, during No Children, John Darnielle reached down and held my hand for an extended period of time! I really gotta do my concert vacation review/write up SOON!
